March 18–19, 2027 · Guilford County, North Carolina · [Venue to be announced]

How can every older resident of Guilford County age with dignity and thrive?

That’s the question at the heart of a two-day gathering bringing together older adults, caregivers, service providers, local officials, funders, faith leaders, researchers and students. Together, we’ll explore what quality of life in aging looks like, and what it will take to make it possible for everyone, regardless of income, race, health, or the other factors that too often shape how we grow older.

Two days, one shared purpose

Day 1 — Community Conference (March 18)
A public conference where residents and the people who serve them share experiences, ideas and priorities for aging well in Guilford County.

Day 2 — Student Research Studio (March 19)
University students take what they hear on Day 1 and turn it into a research agenda for Guilford County, grounded in the themes the community raises.

Why now

In October 2024, AARP recognized Guilford County as an age-friendly community. Aging Well builds on that momentum through Age-Friendly Guilford and connects local action to North Carolina’s statewide plan for aging, All Ages, All Stages NC.

More than a single event

The gathering is part of a longer effort:

  • Before March: building momentum and bringing community voices in early

  • After March: turning ideas and the research agenda into lasting action

  • Beyond Guilford: sharing a model other communities can adapt and repeat

Hosted in partnership

Developed by a planning team that includes Guilford County Government, Senior Resources of Guilford, AARP North Carolina, and Equitable Aging.
